BSIS licensed training facility ATG3001
Part 1 of your BSIS guard card training is genuinely online. It is the 3 hour Power to Arrest course, it is self paced, it runs 24/7, and you can start it right now for $19.99. Part 2 is not online and cannot be. BSIS requires the 5 hour Appropriate Use of Force course to be completed in a classroom, and no provider can waive that.

Quick answer
You can complete Part 1 of the California guard card online. It is the 3 hour Power to Arrest course, self paced and available 24/7, and costs $19.99 with World Academia. You cannot complete Part 2 online: BSIS requires the 5 hour Appropriate Use of Force course to be done in person in a classroom. Any provider advertising a 100 percent online guard card is not describing the state requirement accurately.
Be clear before you buy
Fully online and self paced, on computer, tablet or phone, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Start it the moment you enrol and stop and resume whenever you like.
This one is not available online anywhere, from anyone. BSIS requires it to be completed in a classroom. We teach it in Culver City, which serves the Los Angeles area, and in Sacramento.
After you are registered, California requires 32 hours of security officer skills training within six months, 16 of them inside the first 30 days. That training is online and self paced with us.
You book the Part 2 classroom session online, either when you buy a package or after you finish Part 1. Bring a government issued ID on the day.
BSIS splits initial training into Part 1, which is online, and Part 2, which is in person. An advert offering the complete guard card training entirely online is not describing the state requirement accurately.
Any BSIS approved training provider has a public record you can look up in about thirty seconds. Ours is license ATG3001. If a school will not give you a number you can type into the state tool, that is your answer.
Finishing Part 1 online today does not produce a guard card today. You still complete Part 2, apply to BSIS, and get Live Scan fingerprinted. BSIS issues the registration and decides the timing, not us.
Every course below begins online the moment you enrol. The two packages that include Part 2 add an in person classroom session you book online afterwards.

The one part that is not online
You do Part 1 from anywhere. For the 5 hour Appropriate Use of Force class you come to a classroom, and we run two. Culver City is inside Los Angeles County and serves the LA area.
Partly. Part 1, the 3 hour Power to Arrest course, is fully online and self paced. Part 2, the 5 hour Appropriate Use of Force course, must be completed in person in a classroom, and no provider can deliver it online. So you can start online today, but you will need one classroom session before you can apply to BSIS.
Part 1 online on its own is $19.99, reduced from $25.99. If you want both required parts, the Starter Package is $79.99, reduced from $99.99, and includes the in person Part 2 session which you book online. The 35 Hours package, which is everything we deliver online including the 32 hours of continuing education, is $74.99.
Part 1 is 3 hours of coursework. It is self paced, so you can do it in one sitting or spread it across several. The course is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, on computer, tablet or phone, and you can stop and resume where you left off.
Not for the full initial training. BSIS splits it into an online Part 1 and an in person Part 2, so an advert offering the complete 8 hours entirely online is not describing the state requirement accurately. What can legitimately be fully online is Part 1 on its own, and the 32 hours of continuing education you take after registration.
Either. The online courses run on computer, tablet or phone. You will want a reliable connection, and somewhere you can concentrate, because the course ends in an exam that BSIS requires you to pass with a 100 percent score.
Yes. The 32 hours of security officer skills training California requires within your first six months of registration is online and self paced, and so is the annual 8 hour refresher after that. Those are genuinely fully online, unlike Part 2 of the initial training. New to the field? Start with how to become a security guard in California.
Yes. You receive a Certificate of Completion carrying a unique serial number, which you enter on your BSIS application. Keep it: you are required to retain proof of training. The certificate is not the guard card itself. BSIS issues the registration after reviewing your application and background check.
Yes. World Academia PRO LLC holds BSIS training facility license ATG3001, type Approved Trainer Guard, and the record is public on the California Department of Consumer Affairs registry. You can verify it here, or read how to check any provider before you pay.
Training is only one of the two costs. BSIS charges $60 for the application, and the DOJ and FBI charge $49 between them for fingerprints, plus a Live Scan site fee set by the operator. We break every fee down on our guard card cost page.
